Commentary: Critical Thinking Crumbles in the Case of COVID

by Kathleen Kauth

According to Hans Rosling “Critical thinking is always difficult, but it’s almost impossible when we are scared. There’s no room for facts when our minds are occupied by fear.” The American Psychological Association indicates the use of fear to influence behavior is effective, especially among women. For fear to be a successful change agent, it must be viewed as a legitimate warning about what will happen if behavior does or does not occur.

Jeff Zients, the current coordinator of the Covid response team at the Biden White House stated, “For the unvaccinated, you are looking at a winter of severe illness and death, for yourselves, your families and the hospitals you may soon overwhelm.”  These messages are intended to create a sense of fear and lack of control. Offering the mRNA gene editing shot as a clear path of relief from this certain doom provides the illusion of control needed to stem the fear.

The perpetually shifting advice about medical interventions from those declared to be experts creates heightened uncertainty. Human brains are not designed for constant chaos. These experts are either incompetent or deliberately creating confusion to exert control.

The inconsistent messaging and failed forced interventions to prevent the acquisition and spread of Sars-cov-2 are prime examples of chaotic confusion.

Masks do not prevent virus transmission. This has been settled science for decades. The original position by Dr. Fauci was that they are effectively useless, but if it makes you feel better go ahead. The flip-flopping that has occurred with masks has created confusion and fear. Imposing mask mandates is a heavy-handed way to provide some sense of control. What most people don’t realize is that they are not really taking control of their health. By complying, they are allowing their health to be controlled by unelected bureaucrats. This is illustrated clearly by the recent authoritarian move by Lindsay Huse, Ph.d, Director of Public Health for Douglas County.

Lockdowns were irrationally designed and complete failures. Big box stores were fine to be open, but small independent stores were not. Personal liberty and property rights were completely disregarded by governments that determined which businesses and people were “essential.”

The mRNA gene editing shots were developed to save humanity from the scourge of Covid, bringing us out of lockdowns, out from behind masks, within six feet of each other, able to attend events, etc. The program to develop the shots was dubbed ‘Operation Warp Speed’, skipping trials and safety measures. The CDC and Dr. Fauci proclaimed 100% effectiveness — at first. More and more breakthrough cases occurred with the efficacy of the shots waning quickly. The pressure to get the shots increased as the effectiveness decreased. Mandates were imposed on the military by the Biden administration, and on businesses through administrative agencies such as Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and OSHA. Using economic force to inject more people with a shot that has risk of severe injury and death but doesn’t prevent acquisition or transmission of the virus violates the very concept of freedom.

Our critical thinking skills have been so eroded by the fear propaganda creates we no longer ask difficult questions. We should be asking:

  • Why were we told people would be dying in the street from Covid when in reality the death rate is similar to that of a bad flu season?
  • Why are ineffective mask mandates and stay-at-home orders more prevalent in cities and states run by Democrats?
  • Why are resources like the CDC Vaccine Adverse Events Registry (VAERS) not widely known?
  • Why the push to force every person to get these shots regardless of their personal medical history?
  • Why are there so many instances of the “experts” changing their minds? If they don’t know what they are doing, why are we listening?

Every time we comply without complaint, we demonstrate weakness and a willingness to be controlled. We must be more aggressive with defending our rights and our freedoms. We must put our critical thinking skills to use and analyze every message being pushed. If those messages and mandates do not make sense — we must not comply.
