Welcome to a new Tuesday edition of our daily Virginia Trump campaign update! We will provide our readers with daily updates on the Trump Virginia campaign from today to November 3 (and after…if need be!).
It’s officially 42 days until the election on November 3 – and one week until President Trump and Joe Biden square off in the first presidential debate.
President Trump is set to formally announce his Supreme Court nominee as early as Friday, according to reports. As it was reported in the September 21 edition of the Trumpdate, the president and Republicans in the Senate would like to see the replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the high court sworn in before the November 3 election.
We now know who is on President Trump’s short list, and among the candidates making the cut is Judge Allison Rushing. Rushing was nominated to the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals by President Trump in 2018. The 4th Circuit Court of Appeals is located in Richmond.
It’s looking like the president will go with either Amy Coney Barrett or Barbara Lagoa instead of Rushing, but for a judge like Rushing, who sits on the bench in Virginia, to be considered a finalist for this kind of judgeship is absolutely worth noting.
President Trump also tweeted over the weekend that he intends to come to Virginia for a rally in the lead up to the election.

The president last made a speech in the Commonwealth back on August 21, when he delivered remarks at a Council for National Policy conference in Pentagon City.
“The president’s commitment to campaigning in Virginia elevates this race to battleground state status,” said John Fredericks, chairman of the Trump Virginia Delegation.
No formal details on the rally in Virginia have been announced yet, but keep it here for the latest on when voters can expect to see and hear from the president in person.
Young Republicans in Virginia
Republicans young and old across the state are working harder than ever to connect with voters and make sure the vote swings in favor of the president in November.
Thomas Turner is the chair of the Virginia Young Republicans, and he told The Virginia Star that younger voters are focused on two key policy issues.
“The economy is the main item,” Turner said. “The president has helped kickstart the economic comeback, and young Republicans are concerned about the jobs and how the economy is doing.”
He added that criminal justice reform is another key policy issue that younger Republicans have been paying attention to.
But as the race in the Commonwealth kicks into high gear, Turner said the large focus for young Republicans is making sure they’re mobilizing.
“We’re constantly out meeting with voters and connecting with people over the phone,” Turner said. “The Biden campaign has given us a great opportunity to get out and be with voters, and we’re taking full advantage of it.”
