Liberty University Board of Trustees Appoints New President and Chancellor

Liberty University, the largest Christian college in the United States, just announced the appointment of a new president and a new chancellor. 

The board of trustees voted earlier this week to appoint Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Dondi E. Costin to be the university’s sixth president and Pastor Jonathan Falwell to be chancellor.

Governor Glenn Youngkin spoke at a Friday morning convocation at Liberty University. He told those in attendance that public service is a calling from God, and touched on policy issues including Ukraine, law enforcement, discussions of race in schools, and polarized two-party politics.

“It’s not an ‘or’ moment, it’s an ‘and’ moment. Today in America there are voices on the far left that so want to silence the voice on the right. They want to cancel conservative speakers on campuses. They want to silence voices who disagree with them,” he said.

African Businesses and American Finances Connect to Bring Opportunity to Africa

The Equity for Africa Summit continued today at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. The summit is hosted by the LU School of Business and the Freedom Center. The purpose for the summit is to connect African heads of state, African businesses and officials with American business leaders.

The bulk of the summit today were breakout sessions where African leaders and African businesses pitched their projects to American businesses, private financial institutions, and the US Government. There are 10 African nations and over 30 American businesses, mostly represented by CEOs, attending the Equity for Africa Summit.

Virginia GOP Leadership Votes to Hold Drive-In Convention at Liberty University

The Republican Party of Virginia (RPV) State Central Committee (SCC) voted 37 to 31 to issue a call for an in-person drive-in-style nominating convention to be held at Liberty University (LU) on May 8 at 9 a.m. Before passing that vote, the SCC voted against changing party rules to allow an unassembled convention, and voted against holding a canvass. The nearly four-hour-long Tuesday evening Zoom meeting hit the same notes of exasperation as previous SCC Zoom meetings and again highlighted a sharp divide between the pro-convention faction, led in the meeting by Mike Ginsburg, and the pro-primary faction, led in the meeting by Jeff Ryer.
