Drew Ferguson From Georgia’s Third Congressional District Describes the Mood of Constituents and Weighs in on the Mayhem

Live from Atlanta Thursday morning on The John Fredericks Show –  weekdays on WNTW AM 820/ FM 92.7 – Richmond, WJFN FM 100.5 – Central Virginia, WMPH AM 1010 / FM 100.1 / FM 96.9 (7-9 PM) Hampton Roads, WBRG AM 1050 / FM 105.1 – Lynchburg/Roanoke and Weekdays 6-10 am and 24/7 Stream –  host Fredericks welcomed Congressman of Georgia’s Third Congressional District Drew Ferguson to the show to weigh in on the shenanigans going on down in Georgia during the voting battle and runoff election.

Fredericks: Joining me now Congressman Drew Ferguson from Georgia. Congressman, you’re with John Frederick’s and Tim Phillips great to have you, sir.

Ferguson: Good to be with y’all. And I’ve been listening to the show this morning and y’all had some great comments about the Georgia runoff. And listen. We are all in on this. This is about defending American values and freedom against socialism. And don’t think for a minute that if we don’t win these two races that we will be in for the battle of our lives against a socialist progressive agenda that will take this country in the wrong direction. It’s something that to be terrified of and we should get out and campaign with a sense of urgency for both Loeffler and Perdue.

Fredericks: Drew, what are your constituents saying? I mean, we just talked to Tim Phillips. He was concerned and knocking on doors and going to meetings at there’s a probably about 30 percent maybe Republicans 15 percent that is like, you know what I voted for my guy Trump. They stole the election. I’m done with that. I’m just not going to do this anymore, You know, thanks for asking but I’m out. And then another 15 percent that doesn’t really even know there is a runoff. What is happening in your district? What are people saying?

Ferguson: Well, listen, I’m in a great part of the state and the awareness of the election and what’s going on with this and the importance of it. Our folks are pretty fired up about it. Look, yes are people are upset about what has gone on in the elections and they should be. you know, when you have a Secretary of State that gives away signature verification perhaps into ballots and creates the mechanism for drop boxes and allows the Stacey Abrams group to mail absentee ballots.

They’re upset about that and they should be. But they also understand that there is a lot at stake here. And we can be as mad as we want. And we can pound our fists on the ground on January the sixth. But until then we’ve all got to be united. We’ve got to pull together and we have got to elect two Republican senators from the state of Georgia.

Phillips: Congressman, this is Tim Phillips with Americans for Prosperity Action. Thanks for all you do. Are you concerned about the level of money on the left that’s pouring into Georgia? I got into the hotel last night and turned on the television and well, I was just, there are so many ads from these left-wing groups mostly saying things that aren’t true about these senators. Are you concerned on the money front with what’s pouring into Georgia?

Ferguson: Yeah. We’ve seen this happening for years right now. You got folks from California and New York, you know, even from inside our great state of Georgia. You know this is the most insane amount of money. We call it Monopoly money down here. We saw it just a few years ago with John Ossoff. I also saw it against Karen Handel in the sixth district of Georgia and that initial race. We’ve also seen that when Stacey Abrams lost in the governor’s race.

We’ve seen this building for a while and quite candidly it is a concern. But we have to remember and what we’ve got to focus on is we have to motivate our base. Tim, you talked about this in the last segment. You know we saw a fall-off with the Trump voter from 2016 to 2018. All right, we’ve already seen what happens when he’s not on the ticket. And so we’re going to have to work extremely hard to get our folks out because look the Loeffler and Perdue care about the things that President Trump is fighting for with Americans.

American jobs. American innovation. American energy. And making this the greatest country in the world to live in. And they care deeply about those things and if we want to continue to you know, look we got two fights going on. We got to continue to fight for the President but we’ve got to win these two Senate races. I much rather have a President Trump in the White House with a Republican majority in the Senate. Can we have both of these and fights at the same time? Yes, we can. And we can win both of them.

Tim Phillips: I know Mike Pence is down here on Friday I think it is. I think that’ll help. Would you agree with that always up in I think Canton on Friday? I think he’s got one other event as well.

Ferguson: Listen anytime Mike Pence comes to Georgia to it’s a good day. He has been an amazing Vice President and a steady hand.

Phillips: Agreed.

Ferguson: And and rough times and he’s the prince of an individual. Listen. We’re Georgia is always going to welcome Mike Pence and it always motivates our folks and I think you know to have him down here. We can get pretty excited about that.

Fredericks: You’re on the John Fredericks Radio Network. We are live in Atlanta. We launched our newspaper today. The Georgia Star News. Go to Georgiastarnews.com. We appreciate working on a radio station here as well because this is as Drew Ferguson and Tim Phillips is saying this is ground zero for freedom for our republic. Drew Ferguson with us. He’s a Republican congressman from Georgia representing the third district that stretches from, Drew I’m doing this from memory. It stretches from the southernmost part of Atlanta down through the northern part of Columbus.

Ferguson: Right is that that is correct. We are the great part of the state between Atlanta and Columbus and it’s just a good conservative part of the earth.

Fredericks: Down I-85 and that Interstate that ends in Columbus. What does that 195 one?

Ferguson: I-85.

Fredericks: It just ends there. It ends in Columbus. Well, alright, so I glad I got that right Drew also is the Chief Deputy Whip for the House GOP in D.C. And I just got a text here from Congressman Morgan Griffith of the Ninth District in Virginia. He says, tell Drew Ferguson I said hi. Great guy. Glad he’s on the John Frederick Show. So there you go. Getting the love.

Ferguson: Listen, if Griffith has given me love from Virginia right now that means more to me. Our conference in our nation is so fortunate to have him as a member of the GOP conference and a member of Congress. You talking about a guy with a constitutional conscience. He is the standard-bearer in our conference for that. I’ve called on Morgan many times for advice and perspective and he is a real asset to this nation.

Fredericks: Ok. I’ve got to get to some of the integrity ballot issues here Drew going on in Georgia. Look, I mean this thing, your party here is splintering. You’ve got warriors like GOP chairman and former state Senator David Shafer who has gone ballistic over what is happened here. Out of the blue Congressman Ferguson. Out of the blue appears Brandon Beach.

A pretty obscure state senator from Cherokee County. Kind of a moderate guy Republican who gave money to Jeb Bush and 2015. Out of the blue, he leads a revolt in the Senate against Brian Kemp. Came on my show two times here in Buckhead. Went absolutely crazy over the consent deal that God made between Brad Raffensperger your Secretary of State and Stacey Abrams said it was illegal. And said that that can only be done by the general assembly. And he said he didn’t even know anything about it and now he’s demanding a special session.

Campus said no. Lin Wood as you know who is a noted attorney filed a suit and said this election is going to get thrown out down-ballot because the deal that was made was illegal. And then we have not heard from the governor. He’s been AWAL. Then we go to the recount because it’s a phony recount because they are not matching the signatures. And Raffensperger calls Doug Collins a liar and a fraud. So we have that going on. Then he blames Trump voters for not sending in absentee ballots. Congressman, what is going on here?
