Incumbent U.S. Representative Tom Malinowski (D-NJ-07) appears to have financially benefited from exceptional timing during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Hill reported in 2021 that Malinowski previously faced two ethics complaints about his failure to report “trading roughly $1 million in stock in medical companies that were involved in responses to the COVID-19 pandemic.”
State Senator Bryce Reeves (R-Spotsylvania) is running for the GOP nomination for Virginia’s seventh congressional district. The region is considered a swing district and Republicans nationally expect to do well in the 2022 midterm congressional elections. The nominee will likely challenge incumbent Representative Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-07), who has warned her party about the risks to moderates caused by progressive messaging and policy.
“Under President Trump our economy was humming, people were working, and government did not dominate or intrude in our lives and livelihood. But under Joe Biden and Abigail Spanberger, an intrusive, progressive government is failing us, badly. Spanberger has failed to make the Seventh District what it should be – the best place to work, live, and raise a family,” Reeves said in a Friday press release.
Wednesday morning on The John Fredericks Show, host John Fredricks welcomed Congressman of Virginia’s Ninth District Morgan Griffith to the show who weighed in on current House seat stats and Democrats loyalty to districts.
Virginia Sen. Mark Warner said Friday that the “defund the police” movement championed by progressives led to losses for Democrats in the recent election.
“I think the ability, using terms like ‘defund the police’ have led to Democratic losses in this last year,” Warner, a moderate Democrat, said in an interview with WAMU, The Hill reported.
