Voters are heading to the polls in 16 states to cast their primary ballots on Super Tuesday as a 2020 rematch between former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden appears likely.

Biden has been holing up at Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland, since Friday, according to his official schedule. He is set to return to the White House on Tuesday afternoon while his State of the Union address is scheduled for Thursday evening.

Biden appears on track to easily secure the Democratic nomination. Although he only has 206 of the necessary 1,968 delegates to win the nomination, 1,420 Democratic delegates will be allocated on Tuesday, per The Associated Press and NPR. No other Democratic candidate has received a single delegate.

Meanwhile, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley faces an uphill battle to beat Trump in the Republican primary. She won the Washington, D.C., GOP primary, but Trump has won every single other nominating contest so far. Haley currently has 43 delegates while Trump has 273 delegates.

Republican candidates need 1,215 delegates to secure the nomination, and while that number won’t be reached by either candidate on Super Tuesday, 854 delegates are up for grabs.

The presidential primary is not the only race to watch on Tuesday.

California is holding a Senate primary following the death of Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein last year. The state puts all candidates on one primary ballot and the top two advance to the general election. Democratic Reps. Barbara Lee, Katie Porter and Adam Schiff are fighting off former baseball star Steve Garvey in the race. It is unlikely, however, that a Republican would win the general election, as Republicans have not won a Senate race in California since 1988.

Meanwhile, progressive Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon, who previously was subject to two failed recall efforts, now faces 11 opponents in the nonpartisan primary.

States that are holding their primaries on Tuesday include Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont and Virginia.

Trump on Tuesday reposted endorsements of congressional candidates he made earlier this year on Truth Social. He voiced his support for candidates such as former Texas Republican Rep. Mayra Flores, among others.
