Washington and Lee University Professor of Law Shannon Fyfe on Friday published an article in the Tennessee Journal of Race, Gender, and Social Justice, which questioned whether Republican state governments, including the Republican majority in the Tennessee General Assembly, are participating in a “trans genocide” through legislation aimed at curtailing transgender treatments for children.
The academic noted that more than 250 laws targeting transgender treatments have been passed by various state governments, including in Tennessee, where the U.S. Supreme Court recently upheld its law banning such treatments for children at the U.S. Supreme Court.Â
