Former President Donald Trump released a television ad called “A Christmas to Remember,” which is airing in the early presidential nominating states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
The ad, released Sunday, features Arkansas Gov. Sarah Sanders recalling when she served as White House press secretary and Trump went to visit U.S. troops in Iraq on Christmas Day in 2018.

The troops did not know that Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, were going to visit in 2018, and when they entered the room, it “absolutely erupted,” Sanders said.
“That was the kind of patriotism President Trump brought back to our country,” she said. “One of the young soldiers yelled from the back of the room, ‘Mr. President, I re-enlisted in the military because of you.’ And without missing a beat the president said, ‘And son, I am here because of you.'”
The advertisement comes as Iowa is set to hold the nation’s first presidential nominating caucus of 2024 on Jan. 15. Meanwhile, New Hampshire’s primary is scheduled for Jan. 23 while South Carolina’s Republican primary is set for Feb. 24.
Trump remains the front-runner in the Republican primary with an average lead of more than 50 points ahead of all other candidates, according to FiveThirtyEight.
