Republican lawmakers called on the Biden administration to launch an investigation into a Chinese civic association linked to a New York Democratic congresswoman on Wednesday, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
Reps. Jim Banks of Indiana, Carlos Gimenez of Florida, Robert Wittman of Virginia and Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik of New York urged Secretary of State Antony Blinken to designate the New York-based Henan Association Of Eastern America (HAEA) as a “foreign mission,” citing “its recently reported leading role in Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-led influence operations against American officials,” according to the letter. The lawmakers also asked Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate HAEA’s current and former leaders, including New York Democratic Rep. Grace Meng, who was listed as the group’s “deputy chairwoman” before she launched her congressional campaign in 2012.

New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik on Friday alleged that United States Postal Service workers stole up to $20,000 in campaign contributions and illegally opened her mail to do so.
“On four separate occasions between June 2022 and November 2022, packages sent by Elise for Congress containing campaign contributions were ripped open and the contents stolen while in the custody of USPS or its contractors,” her lawyers wrote to Postmaster General Louis Dejoy in a letter the Daily Wire obtained. “Three of these incidents occurred in a single week.”

Reports have emerged that Republican leadership in the U.S. House of Representatives is planning to impeach Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, in the event that they retake the majority in November’s midterm elections.
According to Axios, plans to impeach Mayorkas are already being laid out by the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the largest conservative coalition in the House, with over 150 members. On Monday, an open letter was sent to Mayorkas that was signed by 133 members of the RSC, including Chairman Jim Banks (R-Ind.), and Brian Babin (R-Texas.), co-chair of the Border Security Caucus; although the letter did not mention impeachment, it nevertheless made the case by listing a number of complaints that the group has about Mayorkas’ open-borders and mass amnesty approach to immigration.
