Eco Activists Sue to Stop U.S. Oil and Gas Lease Sales

Environmental groups sued the Interior Department Tuesday to challenge the first oil and gas lease sale on public lands during the Biden administration.

A coalition of environmental groups led by Dakota Resource Council filed a lawsuit in in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, alleging that the sales violate the Federal Land Policy and Management Act, which requires that the Interior Department prevent “unnecessary or undue degradation” of public lands.

Biden Climate Czar Urges Big Tech to Censor Energy Debate

President Joe Biden’s top adviser on environmental issues called on technology companies to censor debates on environmental issues and energy policy during a Thursday event.

“The tech companies have to stop allowing specific individuals over and over again to spread disinformation,” White House National Climate Advisor Gina McCarthy, a former EPA Administrator, said during a virtual event, according to Axios. “We need the tech companies to really jump in.”

GOP Presses Top Biden Climate Adviser over Alleged Ethics Violations

Oversight Committee Republicans sent a letter to White House National Climate Adviser Gina McCarthy on Thursday, asking her to address an alleged ethics policy violation.

McCarthy met with Manish Bapna, the president and CEO of the environmental group the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC), at the White House on Oct. 25, 2021, according to official visitor logs, the letter said. But McCarthy, who is President Joe Biden’s top climate adviser, previously served as the NRDC’s president and CEO in 2020, preceding Bapna, according to the letter.
