Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance being named Monday night as the GOP’s vice-presidential nominee sparked a flurry of names and  interested candidates coming forth to potentially take his Senate seat – from local politicians to former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to the powerful GOP Ohio congressman Jim Jordan.

Ramaswamy has reportedly been angling for the seat since about the time Vance emerged on GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s short list.

The House Freedom Caucus reportedly voted to remove Ohio GOP Rep. Warren Davidson after he endorsed a challenger to the caucus’ chairman, Virginia GOP Rep. Bob Good, according to The Hill, citing an unnamed member and a “source familiar.”

The move follows a difficult and as-yet-unresolved primary for Good, who has vowed to request a recount after the Virginia Board of Elections certified the race in favor of challenger John McGuire.

A pair of Republican lawmakers on Monday slammed the January 6 committee’s report on the Capitol riot, after footage of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi taking the blame for the security failure revealed errors in the committee’s findings.

Pelosi said in the video that she “takes responsibility” for not preparing better for the riot, where thousands of supporters of former President Donald Trump interrupted the certification of the electoral college votes after the 2020 presidential election.
