Representative Abigail Spanberger (D-VA-07) and Prince William County Supervisor Yesli Vega are tied at 47 percent, according to a poll released Saturday by RRH Elections.
“In #VA07 we found Youngkin very popular (+17) and Biden not (-11). Spanberger leads with those who have already voted; Vega will be relying on strong Election Day turnout. Spanberger leads in Stafford County, Vega in Spotsylvania,” RRH reported on Twitter.
RRH is a Republican elections blog. The poll, funded by RRH donors, was conducted from October 30 through November 11 among 525 likely voters and voters who had already voted. It has a margin of error of four percent.
There’s been very little public polling of the race. RealClearPolitics doesn’t list any polls from the district, and FiveThirtyEight lists just one other poll, conducted during late summer; that poll, sponsored by U.S. Term Limits, found Spanberger up five points. Most elections forecasters predict a close race in the district. RCP says the race is a Toss Up, FiveThirtyEight says the race is Lean D, Inside Elections has the race Tilt Democratic, The Cook Political Report calls it a “Democrat Toss Up,” and CNalysis forecasts Tilt D.
“Breaking news, friend,” a Vega fundraiser email said Sunday. We are officially two days away from Election Day, and the race is tied!”
“[I]t’s never been this close,” the email said.
On Saturday, Spanberger picked up an endorsement from outgoing Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY). That’s the second endorsement for Spanberger from a Republican representative ousted in the party nomination after former Representative Denver Riggleman’s endorsement earlier this year.
In a statement to The Washington Post, Cheney said, “We don’t agree on every policy, but I am absolutely certain that Abigail is dedicated to serving this country and her constituents and defending our Constitution.”
